Lilly Ghalichi Inspired Makeup

Friday, March 21, 2014

Hello my lovely ladies, I wanted to share this look from a wedding I recently attend. The makeup was inspired by Lilly Ghalichi, key word on inspired. We added a pop of color to accent the dress I was going to wear later that night. I didn't do this one myself but I am the biggest fan of the girl who did. She carried my eyeliner into my tear duct and followed suit with a green liner underneath my eye. For eye shadow she used matte neutral tones to show up better in pictures and make my eyes look bigger. Lastly, she finished off with Lilly Ghalichi Istanbul lashes. For her contact info or any questions make sure to comment. XOXO

Bollywood Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Over the weekend I decided to do my own makeup for an event I was attending. I was inspired by this look I found of Nargis Fahkri an up and coming bollywood actress. To achieve this look I worked with gold and bronze colors in 2 of the Urban Decay Naked Pallets I own.

I started off using a piece of tape to make a clean line on the side of my eye, and applied NYX eye shadow base in beige  (saying that I was tired is an understatement)

Next I took Dust from the Naked 3 pallet and packed it on towards in the inner portion of my lid

after that I used Virgin in my inner corner and underneath my eyebrow. The outer lid I blended Chopper from Naked Pallet 2

Now in a sideways "V" shape I took Factory and Mugshot and blended it as much as I could

I then applied Inglot's dark black gel eyeliner and the Ardelle wispies to complete the look

to conture my face, I started with Makeup Forever's HD foundation,  For blush I used NYX desert rose is a sweeping motion and finished off with my MAC Mineralize highlighter

Here's my final look. For any questions or any other looks you would like for me to try comment below. XOXO

Maiyoon Outfit details

In-line with my previous post of what "in" in Pakistani fashion one of the outfits I wore to my sister in laws maiyoon. The long kameez look is one that is timeless and elegant. I ordered my suit from Pakistan and was nervous because I hate placing online orders because more often than not they get it wrong but thank God it came out the way I wanted. Orange was the color that stood out in my mind and looks great on every skin tone. Don't be afraid to steam away from neutral colors and find colors that work with your mood or event.

The front work is all zardozi and diamante work with a banarsi center

the dupatta featured a flared gotta and a banarsi border to keep in theme of the maiyoon theme

Here is a look at the me in the dress

All in all I am obsessed with this dress. Please feel free to ask me questions. XOXO

Ted Gibson cut- what to ask when cutting long hair

Thursday, March 13, 2014

I decided that it's time to let go of my length and trade it in for something a little more current. I've been a big fan of TLC's  What Not to Wear, where incidentally I started seeing Ted Gibson and his amazing cuts. When I found a deal to get a cut in his NYC salon, I jumped at the opportunity. I met a lovely girl there named Yelena who understood the texture of my hair. Now I am very particular when it comes to the cut of my hair.  I want an easy, care-free maintenance, that wont get in my face. Another talking point I shared with Yelena is that I don't care much about how it looks straightened but more of when I leave it in its natural wavy state. Its important that when I leave it be it still looks great without styling. I asked for long layers that start at my chin or longer and she delivered!

She blew out my hair going outwards to achieve that Farrah Fawcett effect

Dholki fishtail hair style

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

This past weekend in conjunction with my makeup look I experimented with my hair. Usually I leave it in its natural state but I wanted to do something a little different. I went to Macy's on Herald Square on my lunch break and was lucky enough to have Bernadette from the Blo Bar braid my hair. Braids are great for dholki's because it will keep your hair in place with all the running around, singing, and dancing.

This is the view from the side

I started out with straight hair (excuse the flash)

she wanted to add texture so added curls to keep the hold

this is the view from the back

the front view (back at work as you can see)

and me later that night. If you have any questions feel free to comment below. Much love. XOXO
