Sisters Engagement Party

Lets face it, if you are Pakistani and you hear the word lawn you either jump for joy...or your cringe. I used to be one of those girls who would get excited to see what the latest designers were producing, but now I cringe. Why? 1- The Cost. I can not justify something that is made out of simple cotton to be priced at something Kanye would approve of. 2-The Designs. I am tired of 18 mixed fabrics and prints being put together in a hodgepodge and expected to look "high fashion". I miss this simplicity of perhaps one solid color contracting against one other solid color. 3- Everyone is a designer. I don't care who the designer is...but today it seems like your neighbor, your friend, your aunty, your cousin twice removed all have a lawn line. More power to them, I am all for women empowerment, but sometimes you have to cross the line where its needed. that being said I found myself coveting one design in particular. Alas, after searching the web I finally found it, only to find out its sold out. So I took a plunge and decide to go the replica route. I wasn't disappointed, I loved the outcome but I felt myself getting annoyed at this whole lawn phenomenon. Going further I don't think I will willingly purchase another one.

Now that I got that rant out of my system, my sister just got engaged! It was so nice to see her so happy. She's younger than me and I couldn't be happier. I headed down to Maryland for her baat paki with my family. I got to see my brothers, including one who was out in Cali. Not to mention my cousin I grew up with from Cali as well. It was such a cute event. The decor, food, and company was perfect. Wishing her and her soon to be hubby the very best.

Remember to shine your brightest!! XOXO
